Talking about the books we're reading is a powerful practice...and sharing the characters we love sends positive ripples into the reading universe. That's why my good friend, Brad Gustafson, and I are inviting you and your students to join us for the Great Pumpkin-Painting Project!
We want you to post your creative #LiteracyOLantern art to your favorite social-media channels. Be sure to tag us on the posts you share so we can celebrate reading along with you and/or your class.
To help you get started, we used our weekly book talk webcast, #ReadThisNow, to create a fun video explaining the process we use to create our literacy-themed pumpkins. However, feel free to use whatever classroom supplies you have handy.
Brad and I will revealing our own #literacyolanterns on social media soon! In the meantime, if you feel like you might need some additional inspiration to get started, click HERE. (The link contains several samples and a free digital "LiteracyOLanterns" poster you can share with students.)
We can't wait to see what you and your kiddos create! Happy painting and happy READING, everyone!
