DO Judge A Book By It's Cover: My Favorite Book Covers of 2024 - so far!

Reminding us not to make snap judgments based on appearances only, "don't judge a book by its cover" is a golden nugget of wisdom that traces its roots back to George Eliot's 1860 novel, The Mill on the Floss. Hardly a relic from a bygone era, many of the books we hand kids today continue to be steeped in messages about the importance of looking beyond appearances.

And yet....

WE ALL JUDGE BOOKS BY THEIR COVERS! Indeed, for those of us who make Library Land our home, few things are as satisfying as a beautifully designed book cover! I love sharing

beautiful book covers with readers (young and not so young!) and I'm sure I am not the only one who has put a book back on the shelf, because the cover didn't speak to me.

That said, this year has been a banner year for book covers, so I thought I'd share a few of my favorites. (Click on each cover for more info about that book!) Of course, this is all subjective and, clearly, I had trouble narrowing down my choices! Still, I would love to know which 2024 book covers have made your Book Lovin' Spidey Senses™️ tingle this yea! See the end of this post for ways to share your picks with me.
